In this session we will open a Live Power BI Dashboard which collects and shows survey responses about level of expertise in PBIRS and favorite topics to be discussed. The dashboard works on top of a streaming dataset and I will ask you to answer questions through a Survey developed with Microsoft Forms; when you submit the form, your answers will be shown in the Live Power BI dashboard.
This is the magic of using Microsoft Flow, as an automation tool, between Forms and Power BI. This is a smart way to kick off the session because I will be able to understand your overall level of expertise and, at the same time, I will slightly customize the flow of the presentation based on the topics that you would like to hear the most about. We will start then exploring Power BI Report Server more in details.
In this session I’m going to discuss basic topics like “different editions / licensing for PBIRS” and “branding for PBIRS”, and more advanced topics such as “Configuring Advanced Options through SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio)”, how to “Embed PBIRS reports”, how to “monitor Scheduled Refreshes”, how to “query the Report Server catalog” and use the “REST-API”. I’ll spend a bit of time talking about “PBIRS security” and “custom roles in PBIRS”. Eventually, I’ll reserve time for a QA session.
The session will follow a short slide-deck presentation and jump quickly on live demo examples.
